Packing for a multi-day tour is different from packing for a Saturday ride. You are riding day after day, often far from a bike shop, and the difference between a good week and a rough one is usually one small item nobody thought to bring.
Two lists. That's it.
On the Bike
Everything here earns its place in a suitcase.
- Your bike - or a rental, arranged before you travel
- Helmet - required; no helmet, no ride
- Three sets of jerseys, bibs or shorts - one on, one ready, one drying
- Cycling socks
- Cycling shoes
- Gloves
- Riding glasses or sunglasses
- Flat repair kit - levers, inner tubes, plugs, a multi-tool, and a portable pump
- Bottles
- Front and rear lights
- Bike computer
- Heart rate monitor
- Phone
- Road ID band - or any ID you ride with
- Power pedals - if you use them, don't forget them when you're renting a bike
Weather and temperature
Mountain descents run cold even on a warm day, and a morning rollout is rarely the temperature the forecast promised.
- Rain jacket
- Arm and leg warmers
- Full-fingered gloves
Off the Bike
- A couple of changes of comfortable clothes
- Shoes
- Flip-flops
- Sunscreen
- Chamois cream
- Toiletries
- Chargers
- Travel laundry sheets or pods - the reason three sets of kit is enough
One Thing Worth Repeating
The support vehicle is never far away, and our mechanic handles the daily checks. You do not need to pack for every contingency - you need to pack the things that are yours: your fit, your kit, your pedals, your comfort on day four.
