24/7 Global Assistance
Most comprehensive policies include a 24-hour emergency assistance line, run by the insurer. If a flight delay strands you overnight or you need medical transport off a remote road, that line is the number to call at any hour. It is the insurer's service rather than ours, and the number comes with your policy.
CFAR Options
If you want the most flexibility, look at a 'Cancel For Any Reason' (CFAR) upgrade. These generally let you cancel for reasons a standard policy does not cover and refund part of your non-refundable costs. How much you get back, and whether you qualify, varies by provider and by where you live, so read the terms before you buy.
